Hi folks,

Did a search for this but can't seem to find much info.

Does anyone have any experience of using thermal insulation wrap on the exhaust?

AVR classics do some...

http://www.avrclassi...duct/?pid=47858

It says

Exhaust insulating wrap reduces under bonnet temperature by up to 70 %, increasing power and fuel efficiency. Will withstand temperatures up to 2000 ° F

Does it work and if so what type of power gain?

Many thanks,

Gavin

There are plenty of threads about it... Try google...

I think you'll find that many on here are against it because of damage to the manifold...

If you want the similar effect without the negatives of rotting out the manifold, the other option is to get it ceramic plated. At least here in the states, I think it came to about the equivalent of £75 or so, and took a week.

Ceramic coating would be first choice but as the wrap is a fraction of the cost I've always liked it and haven't had the corrosion problems people speak of. I always soak mine before I start otherwise you end up covered in itchy fibres and because of the stated issues I always start about an inch from joints at the head end.
10 meters for less than a tenner off ebay.
