Well there is a proper way and a not quite so proper (bodgeish) way.
The proper way is to cut out the rusty sections leaving straight edges of good metal and to weld-in new metal and grind welds to shape.
I have seen gutters repaired with a chemical metal type product. As the flange is curved, the inside of the curve can be built-up a bit to provide some strength by overlapping onto good metal. Since the inside of the flange should have a liberal application of seam sealer anyway the repair isn't very noticeable.

Hi
If it were me, i'd go and cut a section of a mini in a scrapyard, cut the rust out on yours, and repair.
