Agreed.  A cooling system in good condition shouldn't need fixes such as special coolant.  That said, I have used Water Wetter in a couple of my cars to give them a bit of additional "help" dealing with our summer temperatures over here (95 oF / 35 oC several times during the past week which is typical for us in late July and August).

In my case, I didn't want to or need to use coolant in my car (it doesn't get below about 50F here in sunny CA). And some track events don't allow coolant. So, at least for now, the water plus wetter in order to provide some lubricant and corrosion help, and if it helps out with any cooling, then great. I am also running a water to oil cooler, so I do have a bit of additional load on my cooling system beyond stock.

I also use distilled water mostly because my work garage is a public storage facility, and doesn't have running water. So, if I need to keep jugs of water around, the distilled and standard water costs the same. When those jugs are empty, I'll likely just refill them with tap water.

If you read their page, the only difference between the diesel and non diesel one is that it doesn't include the lubricant or anti corrosion additives, since they make the assumption that big diesels will have a high coolant concentration. They recommend the standard non-diesel version for standard vehicles, including the 1-ton trucks.

My point in bringing that diesel version up is that it seems that their product consists of two parts -- a wetter, and a separate corrosion/lubricant package. It very may well be that older versions of the wetter didn't have the corrosion/lubricant package. Or maybe those did have it, but it's just not very good, and will total my water pump seals over time, too.
