Wiring diagrams are available online :-) MEMS itself is fairly robust and SPi minis are just minis after all (wiring by the lucas the prince of darkness...)

I received an email from Autotek who have my ECU ( I only posted it on Friday, from Sweden)

The fault:

"This Engine ECU has been tested several times and found to be faulty. The internal power supply circuit has been overloaded and the 5 volt output rail has failed. Refurbishment is required."

I used these guys when my ECU needed repair, syptoms eratic idle, http://www.ecutesting.com/. If you follow the link on the left "ECUs explained" there is a section on common problems with Rover MEMS ECUs. Service was quick and no problems since, seem to recall that I paid a lot less than £238 too.

Good luck with it, chasing faults around only to find that it's the ECU is frustrating to say the least.

I didn't think the price was too bad.

Connor: for reference my ECU is MNE101170

In fairness neither do I, it wasn't a criticism. My repair may well cost that these days, it's 4 years since mine was done. I chose a repair becasue the other option was £100 on ebay for an untested used replacement, which didn;t seem like much of a bargain if later found to be faulty.

Thanks alot! This seems like exactly the same as mine. My ECU is MNE101150. I think yours is slightly uprated from mine but I can imagine they use roughly the same layout.

Saw Autotek first but after looking on this site a lot of people recommended ecu doctor which is £35 for test and £140 for repair + parts, and wehn repaired by them you don't have to pay for the test. I expect mine will end up costing around £238 too no doubt!

Also, found some replacement MNE 101150 ECUs the same as mine, I know that the ECU has to be coded in but was wondering whether this would be a cheaper option if the ECU was only £50-75 second hand?

I guess they will all work out the same. remember my price include signed form slivery back to Sweden too.

If you go for a second hard ECU, could you guarantee it was good?

I suppose that is the risk. Probably better just to bite the bullet and pay for ECU repair, at least I know the rest of the ECU is good
