I have been using a Pela pump to change the oil on my aged Audi and it works great. Can I use it on my recently acquired 94 Sprite?

Any tips on removing the oil filter?

Thanks!

Can't understand why you would want to use a pump?

Anyway, just unscrew the sump plug, let the oil out and use a filter removal tool to get the filter off. I recommend the chain type one but there are many available.

Be careful with the sump plug as i have heard they can cause a few problems with the threads.

Ben

With the pump I don't even have to jack the car up. Nice and clean and very quick! Recommend it.

no you can't use them on minis as the gearbox will most likely get in the way putting the tube down. I second what is said above regarding taking the sump plug out. Your more likely to get more solid rubbish out doing it that way. I find that the mini is just high enough to slide a catch tray /washing bowl ;-) under neath with no jacking anyway

the filter can often be taken off by hand if you've got strong fingers or alternatively take grill of and stick a screw driver in and turn it till loose enough to come off by hand. Re fitting can just be hand tight.

Love my Pela, but as above, remove the drain plug and clean the swarf.

Oh and just in case it isn't obvious, remove the grill to gain access.
