... unless you like this sort of thing...

Managed to get hold of some of the original black spades used on minis. I'm going to use them to get rid of all the plastic blue ones added by previous owners, starting with my fuse box!

I didn't think they would be made anymore, but there's one seller with them on eBay.

So yeah...

I thoroughly approve, I did the same thing and replaced loads of dodgy blue spade connectors.

I thought missing the seller's details out would provoke at least one response!

It's all in the finer detail, someting i've not got the oppertunity to do as yet.

It's one thing ripping a rottted front off of the min and adding a flip front and welding in some old bars, but it's another to pay attention to the small things like this, quality stands out a mile ahead of anything less.

the pre-insulated blue connectors arent dodgy, its mostly the substandard crimpers people use (often because theyre the cheapest in halfords) Crimpers which are to a decent standard, such as ISO standard used in places of work will have a ratcheting mechanism. this means you HAVE to crimp the terminal so far before it releases and is propperly secured.

But for the sake of looking standard, I agree, these are better astheticly, Just be sure to ensure your crimp and solder connections are correctly done and the use of heatshrink will also secure these better, and also assist in preventing corrosion creeping down the wire

BORING!! (Ahem....I've just ordered two packs of them!!)

How do they crimp onto the wire though. I'm guessing that a standard crimp tool used for the blue, yellow & red connectors won't do the job?

(Note to self: must ask such questions before hitting the "buy it now button" in future!)

Look like a special crimp tool will be needed

I can't remember what its called but we use one at work..the smaller two 'hooks' are supposed to grab onto the insulation of the cable while the square part grips the Bare wire

Similar to this is what I'm thinking

In my opinion but someone in the know will be able to say I'm sure

You need something like this

Or search for through the same seller on eBay who sells the crimps and you will find this
