That black sut although appers to be bad from outlook is not any worse then what your normal petrol engines give out i read it somewhere so i wouldnt jump to conclusion that its super bad... its as bad as any normal petrol powered car really +)

Many new diesels do not emit smoke. BMW , Peugeot and MINI are very clean burning engines............

Of course they are still less pollutant than electric cars. Which are marketed as environmentally friendly!

Very happy with my daily which is a soot chucker ;-)

The particulates from diesels are smaller and can get lodged in the lung, that's why they are worse than petrol.

The Peugeot diesels go really well, worked on a 308 diesel today and was a nice drive and didn't shoot black out the back under hard acceleration

My exhaust on my VW Passat CC is uber clean and no nasty smoke. DPF works well when the car is driven properly and on a longish drive. Its only the cars that do limited mileage that have issues with the DPF system.

Yes there are nasties within the exhaust gases of a diesel but the same can be said for petrol engines as well. Try working on the line at a major Airport. Now there are some serious exhaust gases there.

Exactly, and even then it takes some time to block up. We only have a few issues with some of our cars that mostly stay in London.

My 200bhp Mazda diesel does lots more mpg than a Toyota Prius, and didn't need all sorts of metals to be dug out the ground to produce batteries that only last 10 years

Or use neuclear fuel to charge them back up. I can't help but thinking if we call Changed to electric cars how the national grid would cope? The tesla cars do look, like the first electric car worth having, I can't see our old out of date power stations keeping up if we all switched?

My 8 year old Vectra doesn't chuck out black smoke and does more miles than a Toyota Prius.

The whole argument about diesels produce worse emissions is rubbish. They are both just as bad.

The real reason why they have been on about it in the news is because people have shifted towards diesel cars. The government is loosing money so they are trying to get it back by finding something else to tax. If they do start to tax diesel vehicle's more heavily everyone will just start to buy petrol cars again and the cycle will repeat.
