Actually I'd argue that Satan's fuel is modern unleaded with a part of it being Ethanol!

My 2014 golf has never chucked out smoke, probably helped by the fact the DPF get warm enough to do its job. The dervs that do just urban driving or short distances are the problem.

They will be banning classic cars from towns next judging by the smell of unburnt fuel and fumes when i am following most classic cars in traffic.......not sure if this is because we have got used to cleaner modern cars or many classic cars are running with carbs badly setup or worn?

My pajero belches black smoke especially when boy racers are sitting behind me revving their engines waiting to pull away otherwise no smoke at all

I love the smell of it. We just live in a nanny state/world.........

Many new diesels do not emit smoke. BMW , Peugeot and MINI are very clean burning engines............
Not according to a new report. The report states that many diesels are no cleaner than they were 10 years ago in real world conditions. The official tests are done in lab conditions and the accusation is that the manufacturers have learned how to cheat on the test for emissions (& mpg). There are calls for the test to reflect real world driving, as when real world driving is tested many of the cars don't even meet the euro 5 standards never mind the new euro 6.

A mini is the only non diesel car I have ever owned. Modern diesel cars are superb, I never even contemplate buying a petrol when its time to change.
