Bought recently a Panasonic Lumix Digital camera.

I have put in a 32GB SD HC memory card and it is fine. However when i try to take video on it, more often than not it comes up 'Write error, please check the card'

If i fiddle about turning it on and off and on and off and change modes etc it will eventually record ok but is very frustrating when you are in a hurry to start recording.

So could it be the camera or the card?

I don't have another card to test, nor do i have another camera to test the card in so anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Ben

I've got some 16GB cards, and a camera....................

Some big cards can cause issues

Cheers Carl.

Seems like i need to get a smaller card then.

I thought i was being smart getting a big card.

Oh well they aren't dear

You tried formatting it mate?

I once lost a load of wedding photos due to a corrupt large SD card. Luckily I was there as a guest and not as the photographer.

Interestingly I've never had a corrupt compact flash card on my work D200

Does it say anywhere on the camera spec a maximum capacity card?

Ben;

What rating of SD Card did you get, always go for the fastest card you can afford i.e. for HD Video you probably need a Class 10 Card. If you bought a Class 4 or something it may be why you are getting the write error on Video but not stills?

Take the card back and swap it? Unless of course you bought it online?

Could well be the size of memory card. I'm not good with electrical items, but have heard that they have a max capacity

I have tried formatting the card and at first, it seemed to do the trick but then started playing up again.

Don't know too much about the camera. i bought it off of a forum member a few weeks back so have no instructions.

The card slot says SD HC on it and the card says SDHC card 32GB and is by sandisk bought off of eBay last year, new

Ill look up the camera on google and see.

Cheers all

Ben

If you have an in-camera option to do a low level format, give that a go too.. was the only way I could get cards recognised in my old Pentax

On the card there will be a number inside a C. On the card below it is a class 2. For HD you need a class 10.

ah, that's it then.

Mine says 4.

So if it needs a 10, how comes it works well with a 4 when it feels like it?

Hope that is the problem

My guess would be that it can cope with a steady still shot, but as soon as the action increases the memory/file writing gets overloaded.
