Well, i ended up doing this:

54039496547_ceb79c39aa_b.jpg

I decided that given it was only sitting on its lower mounts and i wanted to paint the bulkhead, i may as well pull it out the way. it certainly made access a lot easier!

Redid all the bits i wanted to redo...

Now begins the big reassemble. After a serious wet sanding of course..

Well with the help of some friends this has moved along a little!

Engine is now back in and i've done some important jobs like fitting the tank and running the brake/fuel lines.

I also finally got round to getting the tyres fitted to the wheels...

A bit more paintwork to do in the form of wheelarches and bumpers, but i can nearly call it 'painted'.

More to follow soon.

Hello all,

I've been a bit lax with getting on with this. Busy welding up other vehicles, however my friends came over and gave me a hand getting it moved along a bit. As of today it has a working clutch, it runs and moves under its own power.

Still have brakes, plumbing, wiring, assembly etc to do, but its closer than its ever been!

Well, a small update...

I've fitted a sexy S-Can fog/reverse bracket. I've always hated the massive box they fitted in the 80s as a fog light. It still requires one for MOT legality and its nice to have for visibility, so i shelled out on one of these. i had to drop the tailipipe a bit by cutting and welding but it ended up being worth it!

I also resprayed the arches body colour as was always the plan. I think they look better colour coded.

I've been pushing to get this on the road because its coming up to a year since i started work on it again, and upon trying to bleed the brakes it leaked fluid everywhere... Its a brand new cylinder but its laid dormant for some years so modern rubber has perished as usual. Rebuild it with a seal kit today but we shall see if that has actually worked or not...!

I polished the front end and fitted the windscreen today,  almost feeling like a car. Just needs brakes and a bit more assembly but maybe i'll have an MOT before its 19th anniversary in my ownership?

Well, the seal kit didnt work. I did a full bleed and it chose the completion point to dump its fluid in the footwells (again!).

So with that having happened, i decided to fit some shiny bits...

Another minispares order inbound, hoping this is the last one.

The minispares order wasnt the last one!

With one problem, comes another. I have had no end of electrical problems with the original loom despite a huge amount of repairs, so i've decided i need a new one. I'd hate for this whole restoration to burst up in flames on account of the wiring, so i'm just waiting for minispares to restock the loom i need before i can MOT it.

A bit more assembly has been done though...

Man that sits nice. I reckon you have the ride height right on the money!

It did look good, but sadly not entirely practical at the moment (especially as the cones have to settle yet...). I've already rubbed some of the paint off the arches giving it a shakedown so i've raised it up something close to standard right now.

I have made some progress - Its nearly roadworthy, and i actually put it in for an MOT yesterday. It failed on emissions (of course) and the brakes being totally sub par, but they've not even bedded in yet so i may have to do some distance in it yet.

Plenty of snagging to do, but i've had this car such a long time now that i thought it might never be done, so its nice to be this close.

A few shots:

VE day shot...

Need to throw more of my hard earned at minispares, but i'm almost on track for it being roadworthy for its 19th anniversary in my ownership! Maybe i'll make it to Beaulieu?
