Snapped Wing Mirror

Best Answer megamini_jb , 05 September 2014 - 01:31 PM

No, door card doesn't need to come off. The door mirror should have a little plastic cap underneath the base where you can access to undo them

The nuts are also accessible where the window is, so remove the chrome window strip on the inside of car and you'll see the nuts down in the door. Go to the full post

So I reversed from my driver and snapped the wing mirror off  :goaway:

Do I need to take the door card to get to the bolts?

Thanks, will save me taking the door car off and realising I don't need to!

Yeah you should be alright just accessing through the flap on the mirror base :P that'll remove the whole mirror unit, then screw replacement in - done

But thought I'd mention the second bit too though as they (IIRC) should have threaded inserts in the door skin/window bit, but two of my previous minis were a nightmare and the bits in the door were damaged so had to do it all as they never tightened up

If you can get a flat screwdriver or scraper between the mirror and screw you should be able to keep the screw "tought" while unscrewing it and it should come out.
