Thats ok it is what it is now and i will deal with any issues that arise. I wouldn't class it as rusted just when i really searched for it i found a touch of flakey paint right in the corner. I imagine most minis will be the same? My mechanic friend has worked on a fair few at the garage and couldn't believe how solid it was, i guess time will tell.

Thinking exactly the same thing. Rust on these cars starts from inside the panel, bit like how an exhaust rots from the inside out. I hope for your sake that when it's investigated it doesn't cost the earth or cutting up the front of the car to get rid of it.

I hope the Mini gives you many years of happy motoring. If the comments made by other Forum Members helps another prospective buyer of a late Mini in the future avoid a rust bucket, it will have been worth it.

Congratulations on your purchase, I'm glad your keeping it original, it will serve your well in the future. As above scuttle rust is a sign of possible problems below but as you say, just keep an eye on it and it shouldn't be a problem.
Get some pics up when get it home and enjoy!

Hope your enjoying your new purchase.I had one brand new in 2000,& was one of the worst minis that I've had.It shook when I braked, wouldn't steer in a straight line, pulled to the left when I braked,& had unpainted sills still in primer.

It steers straight and brakes straight and is a much nicer ride than i imagined it to be. Hopefully do a trip to the south of France and into Italy next summer which i didn't think was realistic in a mini before i bought it. Now i know how nice it is to drive and the fact it only sits at 3k revs at 70mph im looking forward to a road trip. No regrets yet
Looks very nice! How much did you pay for it?
I paid 7K for it. I know some think thats too high but given the condition, fsh and the mileage i was happy. I gave myself a 7k limit or walk away from the garage.
