Nice looking car which is buffing up well. You will need Cooper S rims if you want to do the 7.5" disc conversion though.

Thank you. Yeah may look into in the future, this place seems to be well all the best Mini tech info is. I had a MK1 mx5 and put a set of Rota RB's on in gold and silver, id get a set as they are so light weight

For now though the plan is for an original example but who knows

Jobs done to tick off the list

  • wiper blade and stainless wipers on!
  • New Thermostat
  • Fan Belt
  • Brakes and brake cylinders all round, brakes bled

Still a few bits to do.
Drained the fuel tank of the remaining 12 year old fuel and stuck a cans worth of fresh V-Power in. Fired up no worries, heat the old oil up and stick some water though to flush some of the remaining junk out the water system.

I hear this is a issue to undo, or can be

Socket and breaker bar and no problems. Got about 3 litres of hot oil out. Whipped the old canister filter and and replaced with a new one. Replaced washers where needed.
New spark plugs, fresh oil reading full once hot.

    Old and new air filters

A well needed service after all of those years. Im thinking of getting a nice shinny rocker cover so im yet to do the gasket as it needs doing but that can wait until i order it. Will do the tappets once thats off. Also ordered points and condenser

Putting decent tyres on is half the battle with handling and normal day to day running.

The biggest issue with the sump lug is stripping the thread, once done then its heli coil time.

Thinking of running Toyo TR1s used them on road and track. Decent rubber

Don't know about the Toyo's but most of us run Yoko's and are good tyres for the road.

We have a running and stopping Mini!

Had a go on a private road got up into 3rd and its shifting lovely. Kick down works as it should. Its insured but no Tax or MOT so not on road as of yet.

Back into the garage. Looked at the ignition wiring and noticed it was covered in badly wrapped insulation tape. I've uncovered the bodge of all bodges....

.....
