This stuff will ensure the floor rivnuts don't work loose and start spinning. (the loctite not the coffee)   I went for steel ones in the end to ovoid differing metals which start corroding as soon as the make contact

I used an old tin of panel wipe for cleaning the original underseal off.  Wow it worked a real treat.

Before:

After:

I loctited the rivnuts in.  In the end I went for M5 size.  my only concern is they stand quite proud inside the floor channels within the cabin.  I am considering drilling them out and mounting them from the inside, then fix the p-clips upside down,

Slight dilemma   I replaced some of the lower bulkhead panel as the tin worm had got to it.  But i think there was either two holes or a captive nut plate fixed to it for the throttle pedal to screw to.  Can anyone confirm this or even have a good picture of the location.  the last thing I want is a wonky accelerator pedal..

PLease help if you can, i want to have the floor ready to sea up this weekend and start on the A-panels / wings

I am going to see about having a half day today.  I need to go and sort this throttle pedal position.  Looks like i will need to make a guess.  thanks for all the help TMF!

Then put her on her belly, tidy a few areas at the front end up, then see about wings A-panels and front panel......

Looking forward to it

Had a day off work yesterday so I tried to get some work on the mini done.  Mainly getting the front end in order.

The first problem was the inner wing to A-panel fold was protruding to far and would have not lined up well.  So the first job was to edit this as follows.

Attached File  20150715_180207.jpg   23.9K   17 downloadsAttached File  20150715_181455.jpg   21.7K   18 downloadsAttached File  20150715_183443.jpg   22.73K   12 downloadsAttached File  20150715_184707.jpg   23.71K   11 downloads

Attached File  20150715_190121.jpg   23.2K   17 downloads

Quite happy with the mocked up gap there so I could not resist trying a few more panels.  The following pictures required some fettling with the front panel lower corners.  Having said that this is clamped on with only 3 mole grips so It should all pull together nicely.  I hope  lol

Attached File  20150715_190548.jpg   50.93K   20 downloadsAttached File  20150715_190603.jpg   56.77K   7 downloads  I decided to reuse the old front panel as it is very good condition with no rust to speak of, and my budget is getting low..

Next I had to whip the panels back off and offer up the inner wings.  I did have a problem here, the NS inner seem to long at the lower front edge so would not meet the front panel properly.  Here is a picture of the OS, compared to the NS

This one is not to bad, but will get a bit of tweaking before is welded

Attached File  20150715_231807.jpg   25.64K   13 downloads

This is the one that needs most of the work  Attached File  20150715_231741.jpg   24.38K   11 downloads

So that is tonight job, Then I will refit the panels, check fitment.  Then I think I will repair the rear, top edges that the wings spot weld to, as an old repair is suffering at present

Have you sorted your throttle pedal position? You should be able to gauge it form the throttle cable hole above.
There are captive nuts - I can take a picture of mine if still needed?

Hi John,

I did. I looked at the old Crosmember remains and used the throttle cable guide hole also with a picture and got it all lined up nicely I think.

I spent a lot of time on Saturday fitting panels, removing panels, adjusting panels and repeating until I got to a point I was quite happy before fitting the inner wing repair panel in its final location.  The next step is to repair the rear part that meets the scuttle panel so it all lines up nicely.

Can anyone provide some good pics or dimensions for the fuel tank securing bracket thats welded to the rear boot floor?
I hope to have the front end done this weekend. The its just the tank bracket and a rear companion bin to do before paint prep...

It's not just the breathing equipment that you need mate.

You also need proper extraction and ventilation
