Best Answer racingbob , 21 September 2014 - 08:15 AM

med substack and itg filter gave more mid range power

Take it to a rolling road and get it set up correctly, maybe rebuild the carb first.

GIve it a good service first.

Then a tune-up.

If it's not already got one, fit a Stage 1 kit, then do the tune up.

Phil.

Spending £100 odd on a rolling road will save you a lot more in the long run plus it will get as much out of engine as possible.

Cheap and more power are two things that don't go together, I'm afraid.

The best thing you can do do start, is a 'Stage 1' kit and a rolling road session.

A good set up will do it the world of good. I paid just over £80 and my local retro carb guru tuned it and re profiled my AAU Carb needle to suit. Along side this I had a maniflow freeflow manifold, full 1.75" ext.dia exhaust (approx 1.625" internal bore, ideal for a 998) and a K&N air filter. Once done was a nippy little thing.

Not helpful at all.

Everyone knows it's the engine you need to paint red for more power.

-Service & make sure everythings running perfectly
-stage one kit
-k&n air filter
-set up properly on rolling road
Then you could look at cams & heads or a 1275cc replacement ?
