You declare the mods on your policy bot to dvla so you are then insured for a modded car

No incorrect. Your log book should match up to what your driving.
Poor advice to leave it as a 1275 on the log book.

if it's declared with insurers then fair enough. Should still let DVLA know. All that got me is you told the young chap that insurance won't be bad as still registered as a 1275 and he could change it to 1.5 vtec if he's wishes... It should be anyway. (Otherwise that sounds like you're telling them not to let them know about the vtec and just go by what will come back from the reg; a 1275)

I apologise if that's how it came across wasn't meant that way but theres a part on logbook that can be filled in to change engine size if needed I can supply a letter with conformation that it was fitted by a competent garage

looks like I got to keep it till next April then no interest been offered loads of swaps but no cash from land rover defenders camper vans allsorts of classics but nothing what i'm interested in o well.
