I'm looking at changing the MX5 seats I have at the moment, trying to make up my mind about these:

They look ok in the pictures but would be keen to find out if anyone has used them and their opinions on them!

Cheers

I was looking at these a while ago and made a thread about them, I don't think anyone had used them.

Here's the thread, not that it is much use http://www.theminifo...y-bucket-seats/

Are you changing from the mx5 seats because you just fancy a change, or because you don't find them comfy? They can be modified to make them more buckety/supportive if you like and it makes them feel totally different

I've had those seats on watching for ages. Waiting for someone to have them so I can ask their thoughts on them, lol. They look good and comfy

Oh really?! Yes I was wanting them to be more buckety - do you have the info on how to do that? Would be very interested to do that!!

Theres some info here:

http://www.pistonhea...ectomy - do it!

Basically there is a big piece of foam in the centre of the backrest which can be removed (theres more foam behind it).

You can then take the base cushion out, and cut about an inch off the bottom of it (again there will be loads of foam left)

People refer to it as a 'foamectomy' and theres a few links on google. I did it to the drivers seat on my mk1 mx5 and it made it much more buckety and very comfortable.

The covers are held on with metal rings - cut these off with snips, and when you put the covers back on, use cable ties in the places where the metal rings were

No worries! Just a word of advice, if you decide to cut some foam off the seat base. Take it off the bottom not off the top of the cushion, that way the cover wont look all saggy when you put it back on. Also try and cut it off in one big piece (use a bread knife) so that if you change your mind you can put it back  :highfive:
