Winter is coming so need to sort out my heater.   Heater isolator switch in  engine bay opens and closes perfectly by pulling the knob on the dash.

however when it's open it only blows hot air with the fan on for about a minute then it reverts to cold air again ??

switch off fan .........   wait 5 minutes........ hot air for about a minute then reverts back to cold ?????

any suggestions....other than checking that it isopening fully .....it is....and both the feed in and out of the heater matrix are hot...

I had the same two years ago. I dismantled the heater and notice, that the matrix outlet was more or less full of dirt. So I filled the matrix with hot water and put in 3 tablets which you use for coffee machines to get rid of hard calcium. After 4 hours rinse it with clear water several times and blow the matrix free with compressed air.

I know it is a nasty work to do but since then everything is oK. At the same time I greased the axles of the fan. Take care with water flowing into the foot area when taking the hoses away and be sure the the heater valve in the eingine bay is closed.

Had a feeling that l would have to take the matrix out and see whether or not it was clogged up :(
Still gotta be done. Never tried using timescale tablets before might give it a go. Thanks for the tip.
