So the new car has finally arrived and the project begins.

The 1275GT was my first ever car some 25 years ago and being at the tender age I am it will be an Old Skool build. Plenty of work to be done to make the little bubba beautiful and a comfy place to be.

There is stuff done to the car already and a build back to standard showroom is not on the cards for this car so please don't brand me a heathen just yet.

that looks really great!

When you say the 1275gt was your first car, do you mean the 1275 in general or this actual 1275?

Good luck with your plans and enjoy!

Ben

Are you still planning to turn it back to standard with the one you have bought?

Nope, this is going to be a build to Old Skool Clubbie and to be used as a family car. Still need that rear bumper and you have a PM...

The Next GT will be a restoration.

It was a different GT in Pageant Mid Blue 1979 on a T plate.

A few shots of the new interior from a lousy phone in the dark.

The car came with a pretty ropey 80's Mayfair velour interior with knackered springs, matching door cards and back seats which were just as bad. The carpet set was light blue and pretty manky so it was time to have a little spruce up.

Hi. Awesome motor I'm a huge clubby fan, I have a clubby saloon and estate and I keep looking out for a early scruffy 1275 GT and I would love a genuine early GT. A few people tagged me in pics of this on Facebook. You have a VX220 as well don't you?

Look forward to seeing this project come together!

I do still have the VX220 for now but it is off to Europe to race next year. The clubby is the replacement for the VX as I am one of those people that need to have a car to tinker with.

Arr fair enough. Yea well minis are great to tinker with. Just not as fast as a VX haha.

There isn't much that is faster than my VX as it has 350BHP and has won class in Time Attack in 2012 and 2013.

I will miss the speed but am already enjoying life at a slower pace.

Here she is with new bumpers on (minus the under riders) and the new interior in.

I think she sits so well on the 13" Revoloutions and the Classic Mini is about the only car that can make a 13" wheel look huge!

The old glass sunroof looked like it had been fitted by a Gorilla with a hammer so has to go and I have always wanted a Mini with a full length Webasto Sunroof so maybe time was right to get out the tin opener.

Everything works as it should under here but as the heart of the car is A+ based there are plans (you wouldn't expect me to keep it standard now would you???) and thoughts are turning to a 100 BHP transplant but keep it single SU and as standard/retro looking as possible.  All fingers point to a 1380cc with a good flowing head and 100 BHP will be more than enough on the road in such a little car.

This shot is after I have taken the Merto rocker cover off and gone back to a Mini one which I gave a quick spruce up.
