Evening all, I've been looking at the MiniSpares uprated 20lb oil pressure switch for some time but they've not been in stock for quite a while. I noticed they have now removed this part from their website :(

So I found this alternative from MiniSport: http://www.minisport...bs-1959-96.html

The thing is the switch they sent me has two connectors. I phoned MiniSport and enquried about this and was told it shouldn't matter which terminal I use. The thing is neither terminal works :(

If I turn the ignition on the existing 7lb switch illuminted the bulb. If I disconnect this and fit the new one the light stays out. If i put the old one back in the lamp comes on striaght away....

So I sent it back to MiniSport who sent me a replacement. The new one looks the same as the first one they sent me, only this one was in a Mocal baggie labled EWS/1C.

Thing is I can't find any reference to this part number or any suggestions how it should be wired.... has anyone had any experience with these? How did you get it to work? Is it even compatiable with a Mini?

Thanks for posting. I've just fitted one of the original minisport ones to my rebuild. Will watch for this when it fires up!

It will just screw in. You attach the negative lead from the bulb to the switch ( white and brown wire in the engine bay if I recall right)

Not familar with that switch but ignition on and the standard oil pressure wire onto one terminal and the other terminal to earth does the light come ? if so its just a insulated oil pressure switch that makes continunity to the 2 internal contacts and does not earth through the body. If so and you wish to run it then you'll have to make a new wire to earth. You could use the standard type pressure switch if you have a Oil Pressure Gauge ? and dont want to modify the wiring
