Used to run 2 up 2 down back in the day. But I was also doing "Navigational" exercises etc.

But your car looks a bit clean.

Here's a couple of pics taken in the mid 80s. First one at Stanford Hall in 1986. Second one is my late best mates 850 taken, again, at Stanford in 1985.

Thats a very pretty car as is - and two by two lights are just chavvy.

Get two sweet spots and fit them inside and under the headlights - or maybe do nothing.

LESS IS MORE !

Having 4 spot/driving/fog lights was originally a feature of rally cars. The reason the 2-up, 2-down is not as popular as 4-across-the-front is because when the rally car needs servicing the two upper lights tend to get in the way of access to the engine and can get moved out of adjustment. Then they may well not get re-set before the next section. I know that is why I mount mine on a horizontal bracket across the front.

In the event that the lights need to be removed quickly from rally cars a single beam fixed with 3 bolts onto low brackets makes it a couple of minutes work to remove all four.

Then, when only two are fitted, as for UK road rallies where 4 extra lights are not allowed, there are no projections with a straight bar, but with 2-up 2-down the mounting lugs have to have padding added to make them legal.

That is the basic history of fitting 4 additional lights.

However, some rally drivers like their main additional driving lights mounted as high as possible, but that's a personal thing really.
