Thanks for comments. Back to it this week after the new year and Christmas not getting chance to do much, bit slow though as cleaning the small bits.

The rear window frames needed cleaning and a couple of screw clips had gone so had make some up, as they don't sell them anymore, this is my attempt anyway. The upper clips aren't sold anymore either and harder to knock up, but somerford mini would sell them again if it got a lot of interest, they said the factory they use do them in batches of 2000! or does anyone know places that sell either clips? I have the old upper clips so should be ok, but be nice to get new ones. Anyway the lower screw clips as you can see just slide in the runner, original ones have a little spot weld to hold them in place at bottom so easy enough to remove.

Then my filler shrowd and rear door hinges needed cleaning, ready for some paint.

Cheers, it is BLVC15 bronze yellow, original colour(I have got carried away with posting every little bit, so easy to miss). I've seen your post bit jealous of the spray booth paint job, yours is looking really good and nice colour too.

Yet another week gone by and bit more work, this week a bit more painting of the small items, plus started flatting and polishing the finished paint, which was a bit of a low point as showed up some paint defects and I was concerned I might have needed to repaint most of what I had done already, but worked out how to rectify the paint defects so they couldn't be seen, which was good to end the week on. More on the paint defects on next weeks post when I get more chance to work on the paint work and get relevent photo's, but below some of what painted this week(yep still painting!).

Well this was done last week but nice to see the hinge in one piece with new brass bush and screw.

39222964334_03bc7bd2c0_z.jpg

The seam mouldings needed doing, two front ones, two rear bottom corners and one rear lower one between the bumpers, hard to show all, but you get the just from the photo.

26061310708_48d1208ae0_z.jpg

Then I realised that it would be nice to get the rear inner arches and upper part painted as they could be exposed so did both of them, just photo of one but the other the same, did all the painting at same time.

Nice to see more panels getting colour. Why not paint the entire interior in the same colour? Is that a bad idea?

Well it would be nice to paint all interior, but most of it will be hidden by trim, carpet or seats, so not much point unless your doing it as a show car, which I'm not, just going to be a car in regular use(hopefully).

That's fair. I was just thinking that it would be easier to paint it all, rather than trying to work out which parts of the interior would be exposed.

It's great to hear that it'll be used regularly. Minis need to be driven and enjoyed :)

Cheers, the colour is supposed to be bronze yellow blvc 15, or that's what the local paint shop was supposed to mix up, maybe different make and in 2pac makes it bit of a different shade, as when looking at inner arch and side panel photo, original colour big difference, if need any more paint will have to go to same shop to get it!

The wood trim, I still have it and might put it back on once done will have to see about that one, but I'll keep it so have the option.

Bit more work on the paintwork this week, but my attention has also turned to the wheels, I do like the idea of deep dish but liked the idea of the original hub caps, so either get the original ones banded or the cooper deep dish, I thought would try  cooper deep dish, picked some up, but as usual with  these old wheels need work.

So quick buzz around with wire wheel, below with the original clubby hub cap.

After a chemical dip to remove the rust, using bilthamber deox-c solution in a bucket soaking for a few days and cleaning up.

Finally a lick of paint, gone for a colour simular to old english white, just another three to do!

Awesome, well its a great colour and really suits this car thats for sure, glad you have kept the wood like you say you have the option to put it back on if you wanted.

Love the wheel option to it will look stock but a little wider, i like it.

Been working around the cars paint work, checking for and rectifying any paint defects not going to be perfect but going to be so much better than it was.

This side had bad runs.

40446202161_e8832e05ba_z.jpg

After flatting down and polishing up, the shine has just been brought back with 3m fast cut.

39735816194_0ae13c2b9b_z.jpg

Other paint defects are little crators(think that was from moisture in airline, since sorted with devilbis moisture trap on the gun), had fish eyes on the roof and dirt nibs just needed knocking off. This next photo of the roof gives you an idea of what I'm up against, the masking tap highlights all the faults!

26575459228_4bc6885078_z.jpg

Most of these faults can be sorted by filling with paint.

39735841684_ab62d042e2_z.jpg

Then knock the head off, flat down and polish, this ones just had the head knocked off just needs flatting with bit of wet'n'dry and polishing.

26575290338_80a240071e_z.jpg

Also whilst soaking the wheels I put the rear brake plates in for a de rust, I seperated them so could get rid of all the rust. They came out rather pitted, but they're solid, so I'll slap some paint on and use em again.
