Thanks for all your help guys.

Putting the electrics to one side for a second, can you help with actually using a spot welder?

Do you need to wear a welding mask with one, or is there not an arc in the same way as a mig - sorry if that's a stupid question

I've got a old model and new model clarke spot welders and both are on a normal house plug and work spot on, no tripping etc through normal plug in garage ,


Mega mini, I've just got a Clarke csw6t spot welder, the instruction manual isn't particularly brilliant at suggesting the setting a for a given thickness of material. Do you have any suggestions for 0.9+0.9 steel? Or how best to set the machine up?

Lastley, any tips for testing practice welds to make sure the settings are correct?

No welding mask needed, but useful to have a pair of safety specs on as you can a few sparks.
