Has anyone ever heard of someone putting a Fulvia engine in a mini? They're rare as hen's teeth these days but I'd like to consider it.

It's a Lancia Fulvia, not an Alfa - I've had eight of them over the years! From memory I can't see why it couldn't be made to fit, but with "only" 92 bhp there must be other engines easier and cheaper to source.

that would be £xpensive - as you say rare
also a bit awkward with the shape - but compact , would you use the same gearbox ?
I'm looking at the MK1 citroen C1 engine / box
compact & the lightest production car engine made a few years ago
very reliable also used in light planes
only a dream at the moment

Are you likely to find one of those motors on that rock you live on?

Cheers Carlos. There are a few Lancia nutters over here so it wouldn't be impossible to find one. A mate was eyeing this possibility up a few years ago until two of his engines wuz robbed.

I would rather have the Lancia Fulvia engine in a genuine Lancia Fulvia. Beautiful car to drive & own.

But very expensive if you need to do body repairs... Ther was a 1973 1.3 Zagato just up the road, would be a stunning car but had tinworm everywhere. And even a couple of spare engines there were no takers for very reasonable money.

Hmmm. That's a footballer. There was a yellow ft arched mini. I'm sure it was nicknamed the Flamini as it had a Flavia V4 engine
Yes, I found Mr Flamini and the Flaminia sanitary-ware, nothing on the V4 mini front though!

Taller than an A-series? I thought not.

not taller - but deep into the engine bay near the bulk head area
inline trans axle - maybe a bit long for the mini ?
would that engine fit a beta gearbox - then it could be transverse ?

second thoughts without the subframe all around it
it would be a tighter package
but the front of the engine is going to be in the grill
for the drive shafts to be in the right position ?
