Someone on here mentioned that they've pit Hillman Imp tanks in a few minis.  They fit under the floor within the subframe apparently.

 

Now you mention them, yes, I do believe they fit, a few guys have fitted them as you say, inside the rear subframe on their Mokes, only you'd really have to remove the boot floor in a Mini and flat sheet it as well as moving the battery somewhere else.

 

Austin Bug-eyed Sprite Tanks also fit. These were in fact factory fitted to the Export Model Mokes that were made from 71 to 73. On a Moke, it does make good use of otherwise wasted space.

 

These are the fuel tank we fit up, you can see the Rear Aux Tanks that are sitting flat on the ground, these would also go in to a Mini if the boot floor is flat sheeted and the battery relocated

They have a good capacity (40 litres) and don't hang any lower than the subframe.
