Been reading a few articles on Sunbeam Stilletos and Sport Imps, I really like them and want one.

Anyone had one or a fan of them?

I almost bought a Sport, but bought a 1275GT instead.

My first car was an Imp.... :P

915cc ( bored 875 +0.060 ) - Twin strombergs and free flow exhaust pipe... decambered front suspension and a large bag of sand sat on the fuel tank.

The Climax engine is a cracking bit of kit and can be seriously tuned.

No, they either understeer like there's no tomorrow, hence the big bag of sand, or over steer due to the 911 engine hanging out over the back axle style...

But they are a joy to drive, I had great fun in mine when I was a teenager ( I can just remember that far back )

Almost bought one as my first car. However it was just outside my budget so I waited and bought my Mini instead.

I had an Imp as a daily car in the early 90s. It was standard 848 & pretty complete.

It was good fun, handled ok. But always ran a little rough. Ran it for a year or so & sold it for a profit.

Always fancied making it go faster, but too many projects even then....

Would love to own an imp at some point. My mate has an imp and a clan crusader, his mum and sister have imps and his dad has half a dozen or so, including a sunbeam stiletto and his race car. He also owns a few imp engine cars, think one is a bond 875.

Here's his race car
