So, i've been reading up a bit on the Outspan mini's. Trying to work out how rare they are and where they are. Just out of interest, here's what I've managed to find out below. Please feel free to comment/correct if you know any other info.

I'd love to own one but the chances of that are pretty rare. I think that 6 Outspan mini's were made by 'Brian Waite Enterprises; between the late 60's and early 70's. Five orange ones for the UK market and one yellow one which was exported to South Africa. Here's what i've managed to find on the internet

PLATE TAXED TAX DUE COLOUR LOCATION COMMENTS MANUFACTURED HOH105L N 01/07/2001 ORANGE UNKNOWN   18-Mar-73 HOB429L N 01/10/2012 ORANGE     16-Mar-73 HOB446L SORN   ORANGE BEAULIEU MOT EXPIRED 26/04/2011 13-Mar-73 XLW819G SORN   ORANGE BMW MUSEUM MOT EXPIRED 12/07/2007 28-Feb-69 ?     ORANGE       ?     YELLOW SOUTH AFRICA (?)

Any additional info would be interesting :-)

Three in UK.

One privately owned

Another with a TV personality

And one in a museum.

All have links to the brand and would never be openly for sale.

Mr Waite has the original flip top version.

Feel free to contact me for more information.

Many years ago when I worked for the Co-oP our store on Berkhamsted High Street used to rent out space to Outspan in their back yard. The mini's were often parked there in-between events.

My father used to look after at least one of these in the 70's, I remember going to Beaulieu and there were 3 cars there that he had looked after at some point,

Prince Philips shooting break, the Buckingham palace electric cf van and the outspan mini.

Now we all have digital cameras, shame we didn't then would have an album that would be amazing. I used to got to work with him most saturdays and got rides in some amazing cars, used to play/listen to the radio in vangelis's rolls royce convertible, the one from the album cover.
