I once worked for a company that designed and made mechanical handling systems. I had a telephone enquiry from the company which manufactured Tampax and they needed a belt conveyor for their packaging line. I asked out Chief Designer to go and see them to sort out what they needed. He asked what their product was and I told him they made 'Manhole Covers'! When he got back he thought it hilarious.

 

Another time he went to a company to see their Chief Engineer whose name was Mr. Cruden. When he got back I asked him how he got on. "Oh", he said, "This bloke came up to me in their reception and said "Do you want to see my piles"? So I said, 'You must be Mr. Cruden".

The really good mate that I mentioned in the other thread were in beds next to each other in training. Our female platoon commander came round for her week doc inspection. She asked him what he used to do. Stood perfectly to attention and as straight a face as you can imagine, replied "I used to sell condoms and nuts, Ma'am". The Corporals and Platoon Sgt pissed themselves laughing and the rest of us in training tried so hard not to laugh.
