Can't believe I just advised someone to ring Mini Speed.
I have a nasty taste in my mouth now.

LOL, have you also noticed how they don't care about anything you say until you spend a lot of money on something (e.g. my mate asking for his gearbox to be rebuilt to a JKD straight-cut).

Quickshifts aern't really worth it. They make ya synchro's wear out quicker and have no advantage if ya have a quick hand.

I can understand the lure, but trust me when i say from experience; they cause more problems than they solve

Rubbish. They have no affect on the syncro. All they do is change the pivot point on the rod to gat a quicker throw.

Mechanically they have no effect, on the gearbox ( apart from shortening the length of the shift ), should realy be called a shortshift and not a quickshift, as it gives the impression yu can change gear quicker, which you can't..

You are limited by the synchro in the rate at which you can change gear successfully... The problem is the operator of the device ( aka driver ) trying to change gear quickly, and mashing the baulk rings and dog teeth on the gears and synchro hubs thus cause early demise of gearbox...

A quickshift on a dogbox is a completely different kettle of fish...

Sorry if I sounded dumb, Alburglar, but I was tryin to put him off...not to be mean, but because of what GW has pointed out...

Technically, no, it doesn't wear out the synchro's, but it will make the driver think he can change quicker ad therefore ruin them his/her self.

But at least GW has supported my theory in that quickshifts aren't worth the money

Unless its an ebay special. One thing I found quickshift good for was to let me have a bit more room. Thrid isn't so close to your leg.
