Are there any better bulbs to fit in the standard lucas housing?

Wanting to swap mine for something a bit stronger... :)

Can you actually remove the whole assembly without cutting wires? I never got the 'small bulb' out ..

I use a set of H4 Ring XENON Ultima +120% with wipac freeform units. I can't fault them.

I use 100/80 halogen bulbs in my Hella headlights and they are superb. Yes, I know 100 w is illegal, but who will ever check by removing the entire headlight unit at the side of the road, just to look at the backplate of the bulb? They don't look over-bright when compared to modern Xenon headlights such as I have on my daily BMW. To fit 100/80, or even 130/90, you need to up-grade the wiring and use relays.

Wilson1330 is doing a headlight conversion loom with each filament separately fused.

The relays take the strain off the switch.

Finally it is here, our Classic Mini Headlight Loom Upgrade Kit V2!
We have slightly adapted this kit form the original design as it now includes sidelight wiring and self fused relays. This means you do not need a new fusebox - it truly is a plug and play stand alone upgrade.
As the loom is independently powered and relay controlled it means more power to the bulbs, and with increased safety.
There is no cutting or soldering required.

As featured in mini magazine before Christmas, but as Carlos has mentioned the relay now controls the circuit but dipped and main beam is fused per side of the car, thus preventing total failure.

We feel this is the only upgrade kit available that gives this important safety feature, as well as offering the luxury of upgrading the bulbs without melting the switch.

This kit looks really handy, is it 'plug and play'? I'd like to upgrade my lights too, but want to make any changes as' reversible' as possible, and would like avoid cutting into the current loom too much.
