well got some big stuff done this week!

My parts for the primary gear turned up from sommerford, so got cracking with that:

After fitting got me bang on 4thou! (I also used two feeler guages)

I used the seal fitting tool from Minispares and got the primary gear seal on and dust cover fitted

Clutch on an tourqed up

Then put it all back together!

I then realised I hadn't knocked the lock tabs down on the main nut so had to take it all apart....

After fitting it back i had forgotten to put the thrust top hat on! On and off it went again....

Anyway, not the engine was complete I wanted to put it inside the subframe, as I intend to lift the body over it when it comes back from the paint shop. The engine is on wheels, so I had to make another block for it to sit on. That meatn sliding it off, putting the subframe on the wheeled trolley, then sliding the engine back on it.... Easier said than done.

Engine mount bolts in and subframe attached!

Popped the radiator on for a laugh

That'll do!

I wanted to turn the engine over to see if I've actually put it back together correctly, so I filled it up with oil and got cracking!

I attached the oil pressure guage to make sure thats ok

I charged up the old battery overnight, but its pretty much dead now (was going to replace when car is done anyway) so had to use another car to turn the engine over:

Oil pressure took a while to come up, but eventually sat where it should do (halfway around the dial). I just did a compression test on one of the cylinders and it was fine.

I also found a small leak, which is easily fixable :)

I pushed the engine back in the car ready for when the shell comes back!

What treatment did you use for the gearbox/transfer case/clutch cover? It looks great! If I read it correctly, it was blasted using glass or soda, right? And did they get some protection afterwards?

Thanks! I'll take a look if I can find similar services in my area. Are you planning on doing a treatment to it?

whoa. Long time not working on the car. Had some changes in personal circumstances, so build is taking longer than I wanted...

Anyway, got the wheels back form eh powder coaters (MaxPowder in Hemel), they look great!

Will dress the walls when the car is finally ready. Hopefully start rebuilding the shell in the first week of August...

Bit  more done today. The grease in the ball joints had gone off, so stripped them down and re-did them. I then set about building the hubs back up:

I was a bit worried about the callipers not fitting inside where the wheel weights were, but they are fine:

Had a little issue with the engine.... When it was in the van it fell over! Basically fell backwards onto a plastic box, which broke the fall. Couldn't see any damage, so hope its fine internally...
