I own a 2000 classic mini sport pack.

[attachment=18076:attachment]

I bought a twin back-box from minispares, but I they said it would fit my car, but it was for an older model.

Any suggestions on a new exhaust? Prefer twin, but single is good, and it's a side exit I'm after.

So.... any ideas? :)

You must have got the wrong link pipe. Pretty much any stainless backbox will fit any Mini, it's just the link pipe that's usually different.

PlayMini make link pipes to allow all their exhausts to attach to any classic Mini

RIGHT HERE!!!

Any Mini owner will tell you that PlayMini make the best built exhausts around.

If you think they're pricey, I'll add that all their exhausts come with a lifetime guarentee.

RC40 I think are the best performance exhausts, though.

It was an RC-40 2'' twin side exit, but for some reason the connection from back-box was wrong, it's wierd.

Minispares gave me a refund.

I think I rushed into it a lil, I don't know a great deal about the way cars work :-

But I'm tring to learn. :)

For a CooperSport, a PlayMini PM40 would probably be best (maybe even the Carbon-tec if you can stretch to that). Looks and Sounds the part.

My mates run that on theirs' and one got a reading of 128Db at SMD a few years back...he doesn't use the CooperSport so much anymore since he got his VTEC, which is a shame, because it was sexy-sounding!

I would think the cat link pipe goes from your back box to the cat itself?

Anyway I've always bought Maniflow exhaust products myself as their fantastic too!

I've said before, I don't know much about cars, but I'm slowly learning.

So...

Under my min, she has a back-box, a lil box in the middle and a box at the front. (Pipes linking them n stuff).

Is one of these boxes the cat? And what does the others do?

Because the exhaust I originally wanted would fit but the garage said they would have to remove the middle box :-

Someone explain please...In dumbass terms.

:)

Well the 2 boxes at the rear of your exhaust system are your twin back-boxes and you'll be wanting to replace these with a sportier version I should imagine.

Where as that smaller box/device that is fitted towards the front of the car and has heat resistant material fitted to the car (above it), is your cat and you'll need to keep this.

So you need to remove the exhaust system backwards from the cat and fit a suitable (twin-box) exhaust system on to it.

Once fitted it should look something like this:-

Posted Image

So the grimy looking thing on the right is the cat and the shiny silver exhaust boxes on the left are the exhaust (twin-box) system. I'm sure a company like Maniflow or PlayMini will be able to sort you out with the correct system, but I know some people have fitted single back boxes as their much louder, but I've got the twin-box system fitted to my Mini and I find that loud enough and I'm not sure if a single back box would make a difference to the emissions and if it would be allowed on a Twin-Point/MPi Mini?

Oh and don't buy an exhaust system that it too big either (with exhaust pipes the size of drain pipes, but the rear part from the back-box is okay if large though), as it can affect the performance and you don't want anything with pipes larger than around 1"7/8th's and i'd say 1"3/4 diameter would be more than enough.

But Maniflow would have all the answers and supply you with everything you need, well I swear by them as their stuff is top quality, but my back-boxes are classic green with a sporty silver widish tail pipe. But i'm sure they do stainless steel systems too.
