Update !

Today I dug out the petrol tank as I have no money to buy subframe bits at the moment ( nothing to do with the new mx bike I just got) 🤣 Started by bare metaling it all up and filling a couple dents.

Then a coat of etch and 3 coats of high build primer!

Once this was gone off gave it around 45mins I chucked a couple coats of black 2k paint on. Was thinking of going oew with it but my dad said blacks better.


This was the second tank I rubbed down the first one I found had holes all in the neck so that's gone to scrap lol
Still need to get the shell flipped over but that can wait until front subby is ready

Today I dragged myself away from the bike and got on with building my hubs up even tho I have no bearings for them yet. Started buy lapping all of the bell joints in. This method makes them last far longer and is becoming a dying art! Modern garages don't do this when you have them fitted!

The drill must only be used at a very low speed as heat can effect the strength of the joints.




Then on went the steering arms with new lock tabs!

Will be making a big order with minispares this week so front subframe will hopefully be finished by the weekend.

Front hubs were striped, de-greased, wire brushed using different size bits for the drill then etched up using 180. Painted using etch, high build then jet black 2k paint. Hope this helps mate!

Sorted the pedal box out today ! Cleaned it up using a wire wheel on the drill then da'ed it all down with 180 ready for painting!
This is it in etch primer. My new etch is see through so dosent look painted haha.

Top coat 2k black

I'm pretty impressed with it considering it's not really seen!

Health and safety would love me today! Turned the mini back over. Rolled it on the blue boxes by extending the lengths of wood running through the centre. Can finally get some more work done now it's the correct way up.

Stripped down the steering column tonight and started rubbing it down. Will get it rubbed down further and painted tomorrow night if I can. Waiting on my front subframe parts to turn up too!!!!

Well that's most of the threads ruined on this forum ! All pictures gone and I don't think anyone's going to pay £400 to get them working again. Cheers guys !

This threads wayyy out of date! Car is MOTed and done! I made my August bank holiday deadline and car was in top 25 cars at castle Combe :)
