Now you've got something clean to put in the engine bay, reckon you're gonna use more than a bucket of water to wash it when it's done?

Well the pistons have arrived. I have taken the block and head to Specialist Components for all the machining work to be done.
So while all that is away I need to crack on with the gearbox. Got it stripped down and need to clean out all the bits of piston and valve! Got a nice new cross pin diff ready to go in.

Isn't it!
The head had some damage to the flanges around the exhaust ports and some snapped studs which they have repaired for me. A common thing on these heads apparantley.

Well...
Was not done in time for the IMM so had to go with an old 1293 engine I had. IMM was absolutely brilliant. Now back to normal and have got back on the 16v engine when I've had a few spare minutes.
Got the gearbox all finished and back on, clutch etc all on. Got the head on the block -
Put the cams in but, have hit a problem -
The head is held down with 10 longer A+ head studs which I had to cut down about 5mm and chamfer the tops off, BMW head washers & A+ head nuts. It is still very close to the cams. On the front end of the cams the cams are a larger diameter and on the exhaust cam it is touching the head nut.
