Me too! That film was brilliant
Most annoying thing about the film is I can't talk about it with anyone because they haven't seen it

Also managed to work out where to have a small glove box and where to put the stereo. Before I finish the other side of the car I'm going to make this as it's something different and it will get my brain working

Well done for getting stuck right in!
When you said CAD I thought you meant cardboard aided design like project binky!

Two pieces of cardboard which I had to tape together.

Drew it up and cut it out then had to trim a fee parts to get it to fit correctly

Traced it out onto the sheet of aluminium ready to cut out tomorrow.

I finished off tonight with marking up where all the dials and gauges will go on the template ready to cut out so they can be cut out on the Ally parts now just to cut it out after work and then make up the steel parts to be able to bolt the dash too. I'm going to make the mounts with captive nuts so it's easy to remove the sections in separate pieces
All for now

After cutting it out of the aluminium sheet and making sure it fits and getting a good few bruises on my knees from dropping the panel a good few times I set about working out how to mount it to the dash.

Made up four supports like this with captive nuts on the back to make fitting and removal easier.

After all four welded in.

Cut the panel into three pieces and had to trim each panel individually to get it to fit well.

Once it fit well although needs a little more fettling at the bolt holes but fits well enough for now. Also made up card templates for the bits of strips to go in the centre and out sides ready to draw them onto the ally sheet and cut out. After that I will then work on fitting the three clocks and glove box after that I will mark where to put the rest of the gauges and stereo hopefully will get it finished soon and will then need to buy all the gauges

I marked up and cut out the glove box.

I then made the door to fit in the gap it is quite a bit smaller than the cut out due to the nature of home the hinges work as I didn't want to use regular hinges and have to have a way of stopping the flap from just dropping down and then having to have a catch to keep it closed.

It stops at about 90 degrees and acts like a little shelf need to cut down the bolts for the hinges and also make a little cut out to drop the nuts into so that you don't have to use anything to tighten the bolts up.

Pic of the back side. I know there would of been a way of making it look clean and had stuff hidden but I like being able to see how things work. Going to file bits down after work to make it look a little neater
All for now
