Are the shock absorbers std height atm and how much lower are the lowered ones?
Because i am considering the lowered ones for mine but, looking at your pic from the first post im not sure if they are gonna hit the wheel arches.

I am going to Minispares next weekend, and getting myself some nice new GAZ full car lowered set

Unless your on Hi-Los and want to lower the car LOTS, then std hight are fine...

So might not be going now....
Other than... Hi-Los they can higher/lower a car by a good few inchs!! depends on what wheels/tyres your using. For example I have 10" wheels, there is a possablity that my car could sit 6-7" off the gound, with the Hilos set at a "everyday" setting... where as I am tring to get lower than that!

So thought I'd head indoors...
Before the rain set in, I managed to cut out the worse of the rust, and its like paper underneth!!
this is the front side of the cross member, nice and tasty!
Its things like this that, make me think, *Maybe I should save and get a firbeglass shell*

I agree but then think about the advantages of steel- rust, dents ....

Not done much else but concentrate on the inner sill, and cutting out the rear bins of the one side.
Once I got the ply bar out, I found LOADS of rust between the sill, and inner sill.
I have vertually chopped out the inner sill, the outter sill is like new!!
Heres a piccy of what I have done so far....
As you can see, I have a few holes to patch, but should be no biggie really.
I learnt something today as well... the standerd sound proofing stuff... it dones't like heat!!

And as for the front, drivers side sill....
Most of the rust is now chopped out, just to need prep for welding, and it should be done

I can't wait to get the welder out!!

project is looking great!
when you say 6-7'' off the ground, which part of the car are you refering to? im guessing not the floorpan, as i can put my finger through the drainage hole in the lowest part of my front floor pan and touch the road!
do you mean the sill seams?
if not, get it lower!

I am measuring from the lowest point on the car... so i guess the bottom of the subframes

It will "resrit" how low I can go, but if I am low enough for the sump guard to hit the floor in normal driving, then something is wrong!!
I guess the lowest point would be the sump, so I will take my measurement from there.
But in the mean time, I have enough rust on my plate to deal with. Once thats done, the front's coming off, ready for flip fronting.

Looking good mate, nice to see you getting stuck in.
Caught yourself with the grinder yet? Its quite scary!
Remember not too cut too much out before welding it all back together.. Or it gets you all depressed when you see rather big holes in your mini and nothing going back in!
Good work fella.
Are you steel flip fronting it?
Please dont do a Fg front. They look C**p.

but almost went though the cable

I am going steel front, as I have an idea I want to try on mounting it, its nice to able to get stuck in to be honest, with all my ideas I've had, I am glad I am finally sticking to one

Its pissing down outside atm, so not much is happening... but on a plus side, got my self a 50ltr compressor today, and just ordered about £200ish worth of air tools and bits... and to reels of welding wire...
so hopefully, over the next couple of days/weeks, I am can finally take the mini off the ramps, and axle stands...
