i dont know how you up your filler on but lots of thin layers is better than just filling it all in one go

Ta for the tip :D

But I've done exactlly that, this layers, rub down, then fill, rub down, and so on....
Looks rough there, as I just put a layer on, so it was still wet.

I can't put lots on in one go, as it goes off, before you get to use it.

I hate filler. Trying to make my back and front ends look smooth where i de bumpered is turning into a nightmare :D

I agree with Bungle though and one tip for you I have is that if you are going to de bumper it have it done by a pro as while its more satisfying to do it yourself and cheaper the time and hard work you have to put in is unrelenting. I have been rubbing down and filling for the past three weeks now and its still not right!!! :'(

You'll get there, I've still got that job to do on mine!! :D

The plan for the arches (the ones I just got off Boo), spraying them orange too, but going to riviet them on, and paint the rivets black.

So overall;

Black roof,
Orange body
Orange arches with black rivets
Satin Black wheels....

Should look ok, just need the motivation to finish it now.

if you are de-seaming to help getting the right shape when fillering make a contour template
for the required shape needed, use hardboard or some other stiff material, then apply the
filler to the joint then run the template down the filler to obtain the rough contour required.
best to use a soft filler ie u-pol , this method will quicken things up..

I've been using Loctite filler, seems nice and manubal, doesn't go off for quite a while either which is nice.

doesnt setting time depend on amount or hardener too?

i like the idea of the black rivets how long do u think till your at that stage of painting...no pressure of course...unless it means another mini back on the road quicker :D

anywho...best of luck again

I was going to use a drop of hammerite on them, or a drop of airfix paint.

I might look into getting the rivets done, but if I anodised them, won't the anodiing come off, once I used them?

Orange arches and black rivets sounds like a nice styling touch! I've got my front arches held on with self-tappers at the mo, had to grind them out a bit because my wheels were too wide for them... Self-tappers are ok for short term but imo they don't look as good, especially if you're planning on painting them. Are you going to use the black rivet thing anywhere else on the car? Just wondered if you were planning on echoing it elsewhere, or maybe painting your wheel nuts orange... just a thought!

Thats an idea, orange wheel nuts....

I havn't thought about the inside yet, as plans are slowly changing, due to funding, and my friendly MOT man moving away :(

So looks like I may have to quit doing a few things, such as my nice valance idea ^_^ :'(

But for styling, I am still keeping the MK1 grille, but not a wavey one, just a normal stright one, and I am going to get it BLACK chromed :D

So many things I am going to do with this car, it'll hopefully look the mutts nuts (thank you) :D
