Hi Guys,

OK stripped down my steering column to paint

Removed Steering lock assembly & the round black plastic switch at the base of the barrel.

Worked fine...then stood on the aforementioned switch...not working fine!

I have stripped the switch down and I believe mechanically it is working ok, positions 1,2 then it springs back to position 2 after turning to 3.

2 ball bearings in place with springs & copper tails/feet in place and touching the base plate connections.

But when I now turn to position 2 there is no ignition light & position 3 obviously does not turn over the engine.

1. Can I easily 'hot wire' the switch temporarily to get the car started until I can source a new switch?

2. Is there an easy way with a meter to test the switch to try & get it working?

See photo - Wires:

Green/white tracer - Top Middle

White/red tracer - Far Left

Brown - Centre

Regards

Simon
