Ok a few questions hopefully some one can answer.

When the bmw1200rs head is on the A series block people are claiming 150-170 hp at the flywheel.
But can this be correct as when on the bike block 1200cc it produces just 130hp. I would have thought the BMW engine was a little more efficient the the A series, I know the A series will have more cc but still that's quite a power increase.
The bike produces peak power at 8850. Does the A series really rev to this!

Usually for the big horsepower figures like 150 - 170 its quoted for a 1380. The heads can be well worked and flowed better and the cams will have been changed to suit.

Should easily be able to pull those revs safely with an all steel bottom end.

From what I can see about 120-140 NA is closer to the actual performance that's attainable (from Specialist Components website) but I believe that can be believed.

a standard RS head on a mini will make around 130 hp, the higher figures are for mopded ones, 170hp your looking at a full race head with full race cams.

I can see how big power is acheived when a car is boosted but   N/a really is a different ball game.

Company I know was doing a K1100 for a customer, engine produced circa 150bhp N/a (at the wheels or crank, im unsure). When talking to specialist components they were curious as to how the figure was achieved. Turns how he was using re-profiled cams, bigger valves and different valve buckets/shims. It was still using a relitivly low spec bottom end as it was experimental and didnt want to risk damaging any expensive rotating components.

I have a K1100 lt head on my 1380 with standard cams and 1100 throttle bodies. Running 11:1CR, N/A Omega forged pistons, cooper s rods, med light fly wheel and crank pulley, Dyno 90hp at the wheels

Don't know what it is at the crank.

Mine produced 135 @ 7500, (billet throttle bodies, mild gas flow, 1380 and 1200rs cams) could have spent another hour on the rr and got a few more.  I do believe the head gasket had gone at that point though.  I think with more head work, exhaust and race cams you can get that figure but then you will need track conditions to get the use for it.

Hello guys, 86 hp at 6000 rpm. LT cams typhoon ecu. Got it running next day on the dyno. Fueling was way off all over. Messed with it for an hour but could not get a decent run. Changing over to megasquirt now. This time it will have a map sensor and will be self tuning itself. Dyno run    http://s1346.photobu...fl.mp4.html?o=0

My SC is tuned to 135bhp - K1100 though. It can easily do 150bhp if I had it mapped that way.

Jim Lyons has just made 281bhp on his boosted 1312cc A-Series running one of my ported heads.
For those on FB, there's some footage on my page Turbo-mini.com
