Thanks for this post. It cleared up some confusion I had about those tube nuts. Seems I had an incorrect one on my car previously but now that I'm redoing it all, I will hopefully get it right.

I do have one question though, from my understanding, most pipe flares are sae bubble flares. But the tube nuts on the master seem to be flat so din bubble flares? My understanding is that din is flat at the bottom where it meets the tube nut.

I had of the lines made up using the old tube nuts and it looks like they did a sae flare. Will that matter as I believe it will seat and seal regardless?

Edit: I looked at the lines of the diagonal split system that I removed that run from front to rear and those look like din. So some seem flat at the bottom others look like they could have been bubble both sides but have a din/flat type tube nut. Back to being confused

I'll cautiously say they maybe OK. Where the tube nut meets the 'bubble' that's been formed in the tube is not where they seal, however, you do need to check you have enough threads engaged in to what ever they are screwed in to.

Thanks for the reply. Do the minispares tube nuts have the taper for sae or are they flat for din?

Whether SAE or DIN the profile of the sealing face of the flare is the same, the die used is the same, it is the anvil part that is different.

The SAE flare has a convex profile at the rear to suit the profile of the SAE tubenut whereas the DIN flare has a flat profile at the rear to suit the profile of the DIN tubenut.

SAE and DIN configerations must never be mixed, SAE flares with SAE tubenuts and DIN the same.

I do not know the profile of the Minispares tubenuts but you will be able to tell when you get them and flare your pipes to suit.

In the main I find the SAE profile is the most common one

Thanks for the replies. The tube nuts that came off the car are din and a bit dirty but all look good. I'll clean them up and inspect. Then I think I'll just reuse the ones I have and get the din flaring tool.

EDIT: After cleaning and checking more of the old flares and tube nuts, the M10x1 tube nuts are DIN and flared for DIN. The others look line SAE flared but most of the tube nuts hardly have a taper for the SAE flare. So that's why it's a bit confusing, some tube nuts seem to have a bigger taper than others. I'll remove them, clean them and post the pics to show the differences.

Then I also received an order today of the rear flex hose to wheel cylinder. These are the ones from MiniSpares and it's got the inverted flare on both ends. I thought the wheel cylinder side needs a bubble flare?

There must be thousands of minis out there with a mix of every flare possible

Maybe I'm better off getting the SAE flaring tool rather and just find a supplier of the correct tube nuts where I need them.
