I know it's a old topic but has anyone come up with any new information on the matter, or is it one of those things where you make your own and risk it.

Many thanks in advance.

You cant use a centre exit exhaust with a towbar, you need to fit an RC40 or similar side exit exhaust

I suppose you could make a triangle shaped piece to avoid the exhaust?

Down to fabrication skills I suppose...

I have a good friend who's a welder should be able to persuade him with a few beer's, I would but the exhaust is only a year old stainless and cost me 600 so don't fancy scraping it.

I suppose you could make the towbar sit above the exhaust but thwn ita how well the electrics can cope with the heat

The electrics could be anywhere, but if the tow ball is above the exhaust it will get steam cleaned of grease and that would concern me.  Your trailer coupling could weld solid.

Was the guy that sold it to you wearing a mask?

I know this sound daft but could I make it stick out a bit more so it sits out more then the exhaust, I thought so my self when I bought it, I did buy it from new however. Yea it could be a slight problem if it got stuck.

You got robbed my friend. No exhaust for an A series mini, unless custom made in titanium, should cost that much. Fact.

On a side note, look at where the towbar mounts and where your exhaust mounts. You're going to create a weak point in the subframe if you continue to drill in that area without prior reinforcement to the structure.

What I get for it been my first car I guess oh well stuck with it now,you right it would, may just have to buy one see where it would go and see if it puts to many holes to close together, if not use it as a starting point.

What I said above was meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek incidentally!

However it mounts and whatever type of exhaust you have had built, the ultimate problem is that you want the exhaust outlet and tow coupling to be in more or less the same place.  I just don't think it's practical.

Bloody hell, £600 for an exhaust! For that money you should be able to mount a tow bar off it!
