I will try and track down my local testing station and see if they will be able to clear it up for me and try to get it in writing so then I can produce a letter or email further down the line if any problems come up.

As Ibrooks said, there isn't anything to clear up, it will need inspecting to be legit.

Simply asking the same question over and over again is not going to get a different answer. You seem to be stuck on this "IVA is for vehicles registered after 2013" line.

The vehicle you are describing is legally no longer the Mini that was registered in 1972 so forget about that Mini as anything other than a donor vehicle.

Was it registered in it's new form before SVA was introduced? (late 90's from memory). If you can't prove that then no it wasn't - no matter when the actual changes were made.

Therefore you will be registering it when you've got it roadworthy - that will be 2015 or later.

The local testing station will be able to help you on the requirements of passing the test.

It will need to go through the test.

It's no different to a kit car that requires an SVA. Its also possible that it'll end up re-registered with a Q plate.

Good luck with it though, it sounds like an interesting project :gimme:
