I've got a couple of those and one wuth several groups of "tufts" and a bit wider. ToolStation or ScrewFix I think ..

SUCCESS!!!!

 

Firstly I made sure my welder was on the right setting this time before I started and flattened a bit of copper pipe, held it behnd and Roberts your mothers brother, blow holes closed with weld. 

 

Did this slowly by the way to allow the workpiece to cool.  I love a happy ending

 

A lesson here (for me anyway), always check your welder settings before you start even if you haven't touched them, if I had checked this gI wouldn't have had the blow holes in the first place.  Setting knobs can be knocked.
