ok, im confused now, im after some circular speakers but i dont know if im after the 5.25"/13cm size or the next size up, 6"....

the parcel shelf has holes already cut out for speakers....the holes have a diameter of 13cm, but then if you include the mounting holes into the diameter, it comes to 6"

ive drawn a basic diagram to show what it is like...theres the hole 13cm, then the mounting holes ring (grey) at 6" then the outer ring could be the cover over the top?

diagram if img doesnt work

cheers for any help.

100mm = 10cm, so there too small...... and the head unit looks fine

alpine head unit is good, you cant beat alpine for sound quality, no stupid flashy gymics that break just good quality, as for speakers JBl have just released there new range and do a GTO-527 which would be ideal, probably whats going in my car.

Are these the ones you were talking about? £30, that seems very cheap for speakers, are they any good?

Also what are all the options for mounting 13cm speakers?

same as any other, you could box it in.. but you'll need to find out the size of box needed to get a brill sound outta them... or it will sound arse..., or you can mess with angles etc. Subs can pretty much point anywhere as the low low frequencies aren't directional as such... rathermore the sound is pushed from all angles away form the sub like a forcefield,... Get them comps pointing at your ears... and 6.5" will sound beautiful as they give a njice punch to them too.

I found that 6.5" when compared to 6" comps supported the Mid range of frenquencies much bettem gave the music much more punch and belly.

lol said it so much before but... you get what youi pay for, buy the best you can possibly afford.

Hi,

My wife has a 1993 Cooper and I'm buying a new cd and speakers. But as it's a surprise I don't want to dismantle the current speakers as it'll give the game away. I sort of measured the underside of the speakers from the boot and it seemed to be 13cm but couldn't be sure, hence my question:

Is 13cm pretty standard?

Regards,
Tony

but i just cut slots every couple of cm and bent it down... went in fine :o

the JBL gto speakers are very good for the money, my mates got them in his 106, i had them in the golf, 306, metro, AX, and the polo, and my mates got em in his scooby too. so i like em

They seem to put out decent defined bass, rather than loud low down mess.

coupled with a sub and some decent speakers up front you will have a very good balanced system

no point having speakers on the back shelf if you have a sub in the boot.
