hi guys,

was wondering if someone could help shed some light on an issue im having with my 89 mayfair.

i bought myself an accuspark electronic ignition conversion kit. ive figured out that i have a ballast ignition system due to the pink wire and the yellow wire from the positive side of the coil.

what i cant seem to get my head around is where to wire in the positive side for the new ignition module. i know the black wire goes to the negative side of the coil and i know the red wire needs 12V but where would be the best place to wire it in as the pink resistive wire ,from what ive read, does not carry 12V.

The positive side of the coil should be ignition switched 12v.

Just reading the OP info as its a 89 Car it will be a Ballasted setup as he rightly says and a 9v coil, 2 options

1. Keep the Ballasted setup with the 9v Coil and wiring, and run a new 12v Ignition Switched feed off Fuse 1 the White Wire, which connects to the Red wire on the electronic module.

2. Run a new 12v feed down as described above and remove the 9v coil and replace it with a 12v coil, tape the White/pink -White/Yellow back in the loom, fit the new 12v Coil and put the new 12v feed on the Coil + with the Red wire from the electronic module, and Black on -

The Ballasted system though has ben known to overheat and the 9v wire burns out the engine loom

All covered here on TMF http://www.theminifo...t-step-by-step/

where strangely enough no one seems to know whats in there ?
