Hi all,

My boss is an old Astrali one with a PCD of 101mm. The quick release bosses seem to have a much narrower PCD of say 70mm. Is there anyway of using my boss and steering wheel with the PCD of 101mm on a quick release steering boss???

Thanks,

Graham

There are sandwich plate adapters available to go from one hub type to a different wheel.  I don't know if one is available for your specific combination.

The 70mm circle is used by Momo.  This should not be confused with the 74mm circle used by Nardi... so check twice before starting your shopping.

I have an old mounts at steering wheel and the screw holes for mounting opposite each other are 101mm centre to centre, I am assuming this is the pcd!

The 70/74mm bosses are no where near big enough!

Or am I getting all this stuff wrong??

What I was suggesting was an adapter disk.

You said you were looking at quick releases with a 70mm bolt circle.  The adapter disk would have a hole pattern on the 70mm bolt circle in the center and be large enough to have the Astrali bolt circle towards the outside.  You would bolt the disk to the quick release using the 70mm bolt circle and then bolt the Astrali wheel to the larger bolt circle.

As I said, I don't know if there is such a disk for the wheel you have.  There are such disks for adapting Nardi wheels to the Momo pattern.  I suspect there are also such adapters for use with Grant and Moto Lita wheels.

by the way, buy a high quality quick disconnect.  If possible, examine the part before you purchase it.  There are a lot of poorly made quick releases available these days.

Looks like I am going to be making one lol.

I have seen some on eBay for about £60 that look good and are return if unhappy, so might order and have a look.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated !

Graham
