Water pump needs replacing. 3 days before I set off to the 'ring, yo!
Better here than en route, but still a pain.
Today was supposed to be a 100 mile shakedown run. But the car had better ideas!

Don't worry about it.

It's not future Matt's problem any more.
Sorted a new water pump and cam belt. Then running it up to temp a nasty little git of a coolant hose that's buried under the inlet split. To make matters worse it was a 3-way moulded affair with 3 different diameter outlets on it. Had to rally around via friends of friends on FB and I managed to find one. Finally fitted and back up and running by 9pm last night. Sorted.
Just need to sort the tracking now as it's driving quite weird since raising the ride height for the 'ring trip.

Looking forward to seeing some pics of the Ring trip with this. Who are you going with? I'd love to go back out there, however I have none of the following for it: time, money, car, understanding wife
Dave Day, Alex, Josh, Ben (Him up there with the blue mini) ^^^
Going to be a quiet trip compared to the old days, but as I'm getting older I'm starting to realise how much effort went into organising BH2N. There's no way I could put the time and effort into it that I used to.
I'll be sure to update the thread with pics of the car in action, assuming it makes it there and back in one piece. I'm not going to be going mad out there. I've prepaid for 2 laps and that'll do me I reckon.

This morning's drive to work mainly consisted of pops, bangs, burbles and bwarps.
Feels good to be behind the wheel of something that's reasonably pokey and stable. So different to the Vx Mini I built. Not as crazy, but probably nearly as quick. Handles the torque better and feels easy to control. Gets up to 70 quick enough and has loads of mid range torque so is a really smooth (if a little noisy) drive.
Weighed it in when I got to work and it's 960kg with a full tank of fuel, so 40kg or so lighter than a standard MK1 GTE. That'll do pig, that'll do.

I should have read the rest of the sentence before plastering a shocked look over my face

Maybe give the beans and coke for breakfast a miss.

560 miles yesterday, averaging 42mpg.
Smiles, thumbs up, nods and people taking pictures and videos of me.
Amazing week.
Knackered a driveshaft on the way over (thought it was imbalanced wheel, but it's got worse). Rear tyres scrub a LOT. But other than that it's been brilliant.
Needs a set of coilovers, internal gear linkage, tweaking to the fuel set-up and it'll be brilliant

I like how easy it starts

That's just added entertainment.
Still think it's voltage drop to the ignition on cranking. Gonna rewire it at the weekend so the ignition is a totally separate circuit.
