Update.

Had another go at mates mini last night

Turned fuel pressure down to what the gauge was aying was 2psi

Removed, cleaned spark plugs

Compression checked, all bang on the same

Plugs replaced

Turned over and again sounding like wanting to start but not quite there, wont catch, then almighty flames out the exhaust!

Fuel again running out of the airfilter

Turned fuel pressure down 1.5psi turned over again and now doesnt even sound like its wanting to fire and fuel still coming out the air filter?

Any more ideas people?

Fuel regulator is new by the way although could still be faulty I suppose?

Not tried new fuel as yet as mate forgot to get some fresh but said its been in the tank 3 weeks.

The fuel coming out the air filter is concerning me

If you have fuel and a spark on an engine in good condition it can only be a matter of the spark not happening at the right time (in simple terms)
So cam or ignition timing.

Is there any fuel coming out of the carb overflow?

Cant be the fuel regulator....if you disconnect the fuel supply the engine should still start from whats in the bowl.
Try it if you want to eliminate the regulator (remembering to block the fuel line)

No fuel coming out the overflow just out the air filter

I'm going to double treble check timings on it all as agree fuel and spark and it should try and start

Cheers
