How To Quieten My Engine Down!

I'm contemplating replacing the cone filter on my 1380 with the standard air box. I've had a cone on for years and years and years but it's doing my head in now!
I've got a twin box standard bore maniflow exhaust, can anyone suggest any more changes I could make to quiet my engine down?
Cheers

A dash cuts out a lot of the resonating sound if you don't have one already :)
It's surprising how much a different it makes!

The interior of my car is pretty much standard, I have this awful droning in my ears after a long drive and I can never hear the radio! Lol
I know the feeling
You can obviously get bonnet soundproofing, how much difference it would make i'm not sure!

Going from cone to standard will quieten down the engine noise, as said some soundproofing may help.

That's what Minis are like. They were like it since production began and it's a part of what they are - old classic cars .

I've found fitting dashboards with sound proofing material behind helps as well as underlay under the carpet, be sure to run the carpet and underlay right up to under the dash. Also there is a heavy sound proof mat (rubberised material, but it's not rubber) that can fit in the engine bay over the upper firewall. While not ending up as quiet as a late model bigger car, it certainly does cut down the noise quite a bit.

Haha, I'm not expecting it to be as quiet as my daily but my old cooper was quieter than this one... and that was made out of holes! Lollll

I'm attempting to bridge the gap between the deeper, more modern style dash route (acres of dashboard in front of the wheel) and ye olde classic style. Like Cooperman says though, it's an old design and we have to suck it.
