Monkey, since the setup you posted pictures of already has the heat shields and the linkages, no modification would be required.  The mods would be needed if you were fitting the heat shield kit for a Mini and trying to use the linkages for a Mini.  Your setup should already be "correct" as you have a complete turn-key assembly.  You will want to look at the float bowls when the manifold is installed to make sure they are as near level as possible and that they do not foul the bulkhead.

No modern exhaust manifold will clear these without modification.

Sounds good dklawson, jaydee, looking at manifolds like http://www.minispare...px|Back to shop if the one one mini spares would clear a modern manifold I don't see why the one I have wouldn't? They certainly look similar!

Looks like I have found myself a winter project then guys :-)

I had never considered the fit of these (or other dual carbs) with an exhaust manifold.  I assumed most people fitting dual carbs would fit a header at the same time.

How do you mean dklawson? Is a header not the same as a manifold?

No, a header isn't really the same as a manifold.  A header is typical made of tubular steel (thin wall pipe) bent into shape.  Tuned headers typically have a single pipe for each cylinder where each pipe is the same length and the length is optimized for the particular engine type.  A manifold is nothing more than a collector that takes the exhaust from all the cylinders and joins them so they can be routed down a single downpipe and to the exhaust.  Manifolds are often made of cast iron and as such are larger than headers as far as the space around the carburetors.

In the picture below you will see an A-series manifold that combines intake and exhaust.

In the picture below you will see the original Cooper/S 3-into-1 header.

And finally, the image below is for an LCB type header as you will find in many current catalogs.

Aaahhh right that makes sense! So I will be fitting a stage 1 kit sometime soon, so with the stage 1 kit you get a full exhaust system, including a header, once I have then sorted these twins out, I should be able to remove the "stage1" inlet manifold and replace with this one? I am currently running the standard 1 piece cast inlet/exhaust manifold

Should be fine to run on a mini ........ They did make a 12g299 manifold that was a different angle ( 20 degree ) ..but that had a blanked off side vacuum take off , I would say buy a full rebuild kit including butterflies and shafts

Cheers james
